I hope everyone is having a great week! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will continue our Mythology Unit! This week the class will make connections between mythical versions as they read. Students will read and study different variations of the myth, Achilles’ Heel. We will also continue reading and answering text dependent questions based off of our class novel, Wonder. In Writing we continue our Poetry Unit! Students learn and review different poetic devices. This week we will read and analyze a variety of poems identifying poetic devices. In Math we will begin Unit 7 (Multiplication of a Fraction by a Whole Number; Measurement). In this week’s lessons students convert between cups and pints, multiply unit and non-unit fractions by whole number, and learn to represent fractions as multiples of a unit fraction. In Science the class will begin a unit where students explore energy! Students investigate how energy is stored, how it can make objects move, and how collisions transfer energy between objects. In Social Studies the class will continue our study in the Southeast Region of the United States. In addition, we will also study current events. Homework

I hope everyone is having a great week! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will continue our Mythology Unit! This week the class will review and identify character traits as they read. Students will read and study different variations of the myth, Perseus and Medusa. We will also continue reading and answering text dependent questions based off of our class novel, Wonder. In Writing we continue our Poetry Unit! Students learn and review different poetic devices. The class will also learn about what makes something lyrical (which we did not get to this past week). Students will analyze text and identify what makes the text lyrical. In Math we will finish Unit 6 (Division and Angles). In this week’s lessons students will add and subtract fractions and mixed numbers to solve number stories, and multiply whole numbers by fractions. We will also review the entire unit and take the Unit 6 Assessment on Friday (4/29). In Science the class will continue the learning and investigating the science of sound. This week, students will learn about what sound is and why some sounds are higher than others. In Social Studies the class will begin our study in the Southeast Region of the United States. In addition, we will also study current events. Homework

Congratulations on completing a successful 3rd Quarter! I hope everyone enjoys their well deserved Spring Break! Notes and Reminders:
April 18th Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will begin our Mythology Unit! Students will read the myth, Pandora’s Box, and identify the theme of the story. We will also continue reading and answering text dependent questions based off of our class novel, Wonder. In Writing we will begin our Poetry Unit! Students will identify the differences between prose, poetry, and drama. The class will also learn about what makes something lyrical. Students will analyze text and identify what makes the text lyrical. In Math we will continue studying Unit 6 (Division and Angles). In this week’s lessons students will review division, measure angles, and find unknown angle measurements using protractors and the additive method. In Science the class will begin a new unit, where students investigate the science of sound. This week, students will learn about the connection between sounds and vibration. In Social Studies the class will finish an assignment we did not get to finish this week about gender stereotypes in the media. We will also begin our study in the Southeast Region of the United States. In addition, we will also study current events. Homework

Hope everyone is doing well. We only have four more school days until Spring Break! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will continue reading real-life mysteries! In this week’s mystery, Amelia Earhart, students will focus on identifying the cause and effect in the text. We will also continue reading and studying the theme and main ideas of our class novel, Wonder. In Writing we will continue our persuasive writing unit! Students will finish publishing and share their essays from the past week. Students will also choose a new topic to write their next persuasive essay! The class will also learn and study how to use possessive nouns. Our spelling this week will focus on possessive nouns. In Math we will continue studying Unit 6 (Division and Angles). In this week’s lessons students will practice using partial quotient division to divide numbers, explore different ways to express and interpret remainders, and measure angles. In Science the class will finish our study on the human body! This week students will learn more about the brain and our senses. In Social Studies the class will finish studying the Midwest region of the United States. Students will be assessed on the Midwest states and capitals. We will also study current events. Homework
