I hope everyone is having a nice week! Notes and Reminders:
In reading this week students will identify all of the elements of a short mystery story and solve the mystery of the reading! We will also finish reading our class novel, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. Students will complete culminating activities paired with the book. In writing students will continue our expository writing unit! Students will choose their own topic of interest to write an informative essay about. In Math we will continue Unit 5 (Fraction and Mixed-Number Computation; Measurement). In this week’s lessons students will subtract fractions and mixed numbers to solve number stories. They will also record data on a line plot and answer questions regarding the data, and explore rotation iteration of measurement units and angle measurements. In Science the class will learn more about the human body. The class will complete a scavenger hunt gathering important information about how our body functions. In Social Studies the class will continue studying the US Regions, moving on to the midwest. We will also begin our Women’s History Month Study! Homework

I hope everyone is having a nice week! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In reading we will continue our unit on mysteries! This week students will focus on making inferences as they read. We will also continue to read and discuss our class novel, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. In writing students will continue our expository writing unit! Students will finish their essays they started last week about how scientists have saved two endangered animals (wolves and lynxes). Students will then have the opportunity to choose their own topic of interest to write an informative essay about. In Math we will continue Unit 5 (Fraction and Mixed-Number Computation; Measurement) on Wednesday. In this week’s lessons students will learn multiple strategies to add mixed numbers with like denominators, and add unlike fractions through the tenths and hundredths. In Science the class will continue learning about and studying the human body. We will also research and learn about famous African American Inventors. In Social Studies the class will continue our study on Black History. Homework

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday! We have had a nice week. 4th graders did an amazing job on their Wax Museum presentations! Congratulations to all students for their hard work. Notes and Reminders:
In reading we will continue our unit on mysteries! This week students will identify the use of foreshadowing and flashbacks in the readings. We will also continue to read and discuss our class novel, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. In writing students will begin an expository writing unit! Students will respond to assigned writing prompts at the beginning of the week. Students will then have the opportunity to choose their own topic of interest to write an informative essay about. In Math we will begin the week by reviewing concepts studied throughout the year. We will begin Unit 5 (Fraction and Mixed-Number Computation; Measurement) on Wednesday. In this week’s lessons students explore decomposing fractions into sums of fractions, and practice finding the whole when given a fractional part of a region. In Science the class will continue learning about and studying the human body. We will also research and learn about famous African American Inventors. In Social Studies the class will continue our study on Black History. This week students will choose a person of interest to study. Homework

I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday! Due to the low attendance on some days this week, some of this week’s lessons will carry over to next week! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In reading we will continue our unit on mysteries! This week students will learn and identify the use of foreshadowing in the reading. The class will continue practicing their speeches for the 4th Grade Wax Museum. In addition, we will also continue to read and discuss our class novel, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. In writing students will present their autobiographies. The class will also begin an expository writing unit! Students will choose a topic of interest, conduct a short research, and write an informative essay about their topic. In Math we will finish studying Unit 4- Multi-Digit Multiplication. In this week’s lessons students solve multi-step multiplication problems and learn how to use the Lattice Method to solve multiplication problems. We will review the entire unit and take the Unit 4 Assessment at the end of week. In Science the class will continue learning about the different parts of the brain and what each part controls. In Social Studies the class will continue studying the Southwest Region, and begin our study for Black History Month! Homework
