I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will continue to make connections between characters from different myths. This week we will read and study the myths; Atlas and Labyrinth. We will also continue/ finish reading and answering text dependent questions based off of our class novel, Wonder. In Writing we will study fractured stories! Students choose a myth or a fairytale and begin writing their own fractured stories. In Math we will begin Unit 8 (Fraction Operations; Application). This unit is a bit more intense, so some lessons will take 2 days to complete. In this week’s lessons students will solve challenging multistep number stories and apply their understanding of the additive nature of angle measures to real-life situations. In Science the class will continue working on their Invention Convention projects. Students will begin designing their inventions and creating an advertisement/commercial to sell their creation! In Social Studies the class will continue studying the geography and culture of the Northeast Region. In addition, we will also study current events. Homework

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will continue to make connections between characters from different myths. This week we will read and study the myths; Psyche and Eros, Trojan Horse, and Cyclops . We will also continue reading and answering text dependent questions based off of our class novel, Wonder. In Writing we continue our Poetry Unit! Students will continue to study and analyze figurative language. This week students will analyze images using 5 types of figurative language. In Math we will finish Unit 7 (Multiplication of a Fraction by a Whole Number; Measurement). In this week’s lessons students will practice converting between fractions and decimals to solve number stories, and record data on a line plot and answer questions regarding the data. We will review the entire unit, and take the Unit 7 Assessment on Friday. In Science the class will continue exploring energy! Students will also be introduced to our final project for the year, Invention Convention. Students will choose a problem they are interested in and identify possible solutions. They will design an invention that could help solve the problem they chose. Students will share their designs and create a commercial selling their inventions! In Social Studies the class will continue studying the geography and culture of the Northeast Region. In addition, we will also study current events. Homework

Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will continue to make connections between characters from different myths. This week we will read Arachne the Spinner in small groups. We will also continue reading and answering text dependent questions based off of our class novel, Wonder. In Writing we continue our Poetry Unit! Students will continue to study and analyze figurative language. This week students will analyze images using 5 types of figurative language. In Math we will continue Unit 7 (Multiplication of a Fraction by a Whole Number; Measurement). In this week’s lessons students will use division strategies to solve various division measurement problems, generate and analyze patterns in rectangular numbers, and solve multistep number stories involving fraction. In Science the class will continue exploring energy! Students will investigate and explore how high the hills of a roller coaster can be, and how that affects the energy. In Social Studies the class will finish our study in the Southeast Region of the United States and take a test on Tuesday. We will begin studying the Northeast Region as well. In addition, we will also study current events. Homework

Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will continue our Mythology Unit. This week the class will make connections between characters from different myths. We will read The Midas Touch in small groups. Students will compare Midas to other characters in myths we have studied. We will also continue reading and answering text dependent questions based off of our class novel, Wonder. In Writing we continue our Poetry Unit! Students will continue to study and analyze figurative language. This week we work with hyperboles, personification and more! In Math we will continue Unit 7 (Multiplication of a Fraction by a Whole Number; Measurement). In this week’s lessons students explore multiplying fractions by whole numbers, multiply mixed numbers by whole numbers, and work on extended division problems by solving multi-step number stories. In Science the class will continue exploring energy! Students investigate how energy is stored as height, how it can make objects move, and how collisions transfer energy between objects. In Social Studies the class will continue our study in the Southeast Region of the United States. In addition, we will also study current events. Homework
