Mrs. Eleni Koliopoulos
Hello 4th Grade Students and Families,
I hope everyone had a nice and enjoyable weekend! I want to thank you all again for your continued support as we moved assignments onto google classroom. I will continue to post this weekly overview, but will also post a daily checklist/schedule on google classroom students can follow to finish assignments. Of course, you can always make a schedule that works for your family. Students should be working a total 2-3 hours a day on academic work. This week we will begin daily class meetings each day at 10:00 am. These are optional, but students are encouraged to join. It will be a time for us all to connect. I plan on reviewing and explaining assignments, teaching lessons, and allowing students opportunities to interact and connect with each other. The link to the class meeting will be posted each morning on google classroom. Below is an outline of this week's assignments for Reading, Math, and Science! Reading Assignments/ Information This week’s focus in reading will be Text Structure- Problem and Solution. Authors organize their text in a way that is helpful for their readers. The way authors choose to organize their text is called Text Structure. A Problem is what goes wrong, an issue, an obstacle. The Solution is how the problem is fixed or solved. In this week's reading, the text includes information about a problem and possible solutions. Weekly reading activities listed below;
Math Assignments/ Information Students should be practicing math 20-30 minutes a day. They can work on Khan Academy Lessons or on the ¨PDF Math Activities¨ posted in google classroom. This week in math students will continue multiplying fractions. They will also be introduced to multiplying mixed numbers by fractions. In addition, students will practice division and solve division number stories involving unit conversions and measurements. Science Assignments/ Information Each week I will post three science activities. I am hoping students will be able to work about 20 minutes a day on science assignments. Each week students will receive an Invention Convention assignment, a Mystery Science assignment, and a Super Science reading. They should prioritize their time in the following order;
Please email or message me with any questions! Don’t forget to share school spirit photos on Warrior Wednesday :) Have a great week! Ms. Lemberis
