Mrs. Eleni Koliopoulos
Hello Room 209 Students and Families,
We hope everyone is doing well and had a nice weekend! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments This week in Reading we will continue studying biographies. The grade level will culminate this reading unit by participating in the traditional 4th Grade Wax Museum! Students will be introduced to this assignment this week-instructions, expectations, and rubrics. Each student will be expected to choose an influential person to research, write a monologue about that person, and make a presentation that will be added to our Virtual Wax Museum! Students will spend the week researching the influential person they chose. During guided reading, reading groups will continue to identify the main idea and supporting details of the text read. During writing, we will continue research writing. This week, students will research topics about African American History and begin writing their research paper. We will review paraphrasing and students will also learn how to cite their sources and write a bibliography to include with their final draft. This week in Math we will continue studying Unit 4- Multidigit Multiplication. Students use the Partial-Products Multiplication strategy to solve problems. Students find the area of rectangles and rectilinear figures using multi digit computation, and solve multistep multiplication number stories. This week in Science, students will explore the brain’s role in receiving information from the senses, processing that information, and controlling the muscles to enable movement. The class will watch an activity where human reflexes are tested. We will also learn about how we process information in our brains and then respond to that information in different ways. Last week, we discussed the tragic attack that took place on our nation’s capital. This week we will continue discussing this topic and related current events. Homework
