Hello Room 209 Students and Families, Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments This week in Reading students will continue working on their Wax Museum projects. This week students will make a comic strip story about the person they are researching, and write letters to that person as well. During small group time, students will focus on summarizing as they read. During writing, we will continue research writing about African American History. This week, students will complete a graphic organizer outlining their writing and their sources. Students will also begin writing their research papers, and learn how to cite their sources appropriately. In Math we will finish studying Unit 4- Multidigit Multiplication. Students use the Partial-Products Multiplication strategy to solve problems. They will also be introduced and explore the lattice method while solving multiplication problems. We will review the unit throughout the week, and students will take the Unit 4 Assessment in the beginning of next week. In Social Studies, we will begin the week by identifying dreams and aspirations Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had for us and our country. Students will compare his dreams to what is going on in our country now, and identify changes that need to be made. We will also study current events focused on the presidential inauguration.
