Happy New Year 209 Students and Families! I hope everyone had a relaxing winter break and a joyous holiday season with your families. I am looking forward to getting back to teaching this Monday! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In Reading we will read and learn about Katherine Johnson. The class will create a timeline including important events about Katherine Johnson. Students will work on the timeline and present their timelines during reading class. During guided reading, students will identify the main idea and supporting details of the text read. During writing, we will begin research writing! Students will research topics about African American History. In addition, students will learn how to cite sources and paraphrase their research. This week in Math we will continue studying Unit 4- Multidigit Multiplication. Students will be introduced and solve problems using the Partial-Products Multiplication strategy. We will also further explore the metric system and convert kilograms to grams. In addition, the class will solve multistep number stories. This week in Science, students will discover the basics of how their eyes work, and figure out some of the causes of vision problems. Students will watch an activity where a working model of a human eye is developed. A magnifying lens is used as a model of the cornea to explore how the structure of this lens is related to the function of our eyes. We will also read additional paired readings related to these topics. Homework
