Mrs. Eleni Koliopoulos
Hello Room 209 Students and Families,
As you may have heard, many classrooms at Ray have gone remote due to positive COVID-19 cases. Luckily our classroom is doing well :). The students in our class really do a wonderful job keeping their masks on, and practice social distancing. I have been really impressed! I hope cases continue to go down, and we all continue to stay healthy and safe. Let me know if you have any concerns or questions. Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments This week in Reading we will focus on identifying character traits. Students will study characters’ words, thoughts, and actions. In addition, as we continue reading our class novel, Out of My Mind, students will complete reading comprehension activities paired with the book. In writing we will begin opinion writing. The class will read an article about whether the voting age in the US should be lowered or not. Students will identify elements of Opinion/Argumentative Writing in the text, and use the article to think about what side they would take. In Math we finished our Unit 2 Review. Students will take the Unit 2 Assessment on Tuesday, and we will begin Unit 3- Fractions and Decimals on Wednesday. In Science the class will continue with the Unit on the Birth of Rocks. In this week’s lesson, students will explore how solid rock breaks apart into smaller pieces through a process called weathering (including root-wedging and ice-wedging). In Social Studies the class will continue studying US Regions. This week we will study the difference between Absolute Vs. Relative Location. We will also study the five themes of geography; Location, Place, Human-Environment Interaction, Movement, Regions. Homework
Thank you all for your continued support- it is so appreciated! Please email me with any questions, comments, or concerns at [email protected]. Sincerely yours, Ms. Lemberis
