Hello Room 209 Students and Families, I hope everyone has a lovely long weekend, and for those of you who celebrate- a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments In reading students will focus on differentiating between main ideas and supporting details. We will continue reading our class novel, Out of My Mind, students will complete reading comprehension activities paired with the book. In writing we will continue opinion writing. The class will read a debate article about whether or not there are too many holidays. Students will identify elements of Opinion/Argumentative Writing in the text, and use the article to think about what side they would take. In Math we will continue studying Unit 3- Fractions and Decimals. In this week’s lessons, students use mathematical models to compare fractions with different numerators and denominators to justify reasoning. We will also compare fractions in number stories, and learn strategies to order fractions and place them accurately on the number lines. In Science the class will begin a new unit, where students investigate structures and functions of the human body. They will explore how our bones and muscles are interconnected, how our eyes interact with light and impact our vision, and how our brain responds to stimuli in our environment. In Social Studies the class will identify the US Regions, and begin studying the states of the West. Homework
