Hello Room 209 Students and Families,
Hope everyone is doing well, and had a nice weekend! Notes and Reminders:
Weekly Overview of Assignments This week in Reading we will focus on making inferences as we read. Students will make inferences and support their responses with evidence from the text as we read stories during guided reading and whole group instruction. We will continue reading our class novel, The Whipping Boy. This week in writing students will publish their second narrative stories. Students can do this through google classroom, or hand-write their published story. If students hand-write their stories a copy must be emailed to me for credit. We will also begin our next writing unit; Responding to a Prompt. This week we will read a text as a class, and students will respond from a different character’s point of view. In Math we will finish working on Unit 1- Place Value; Multidigit Addition and Subtraction. We will end the unit by finding the perimeter of rectangles and squares. The class will also review concepts learned throughout the unit. Students will take a unit assessment at the end of the week. In Social Studies will continue to learn about National Parks and the landforms that are found around the United States. Students will begin the week watching a video highlighting twenty-five National Parks. While they are watching the video, they will identify three interesting facts or sights that they enjoyed while viewing the video. On Tuesday, they will review different landforms. The fourth graders will then draw a picture of themselves at the landform. National Park outlines are due on Wednesday. The students will also be introduced to a project where they will create a brochure persuading people to come to the National Park that they researched.Thursday and Friday will study current events!
